What a strange analysis, contributions are judged on their value, not on who
the contributor is. Particularly in this case, Tom was nothing but
communicative, personable and persistent in his endeavors and the bottleneck to
progress was opposition to the design approach which is perfectly valid IMO.
It is true that if a contributor is consistently dismissive of feedback and
difficult to work with then naturally committers are going to be less likely to
engage, that's their right as an unpaid volunteer. But that certainly wasn't
the case with Tom.
