Actually I was tired when I asked this question :/
You (slightly modified) patch is in trunk at r831801, R9.04 r831802
I simply used the same syntax than in other themes (XHTML)
+ added =multiple (XHTML compliant) where needed
+ fixed in product quick admin (wrong syntax multiple=true)
