Greetings -- I'm an old net/sysadmin who has been using nmap on *nix for years,
and sometimes uses it on windows via npcap + nmap/zenmap. I have no *nix
machine at home right now, so I need nmap/zenmap on windows.
I have a freshly built, updated windows10 machine, rebuilt 3 months ago. It is
an audio workstation with audio DSP tools installed, along with just a few
games. No network tools or anything that should have affected this.
When I install npcap 1.77, there are no errors on install and my wireshark
client works fine.
When I install nmap 7.94, there are no errors on install, but the tool wont run
and always gives this error: [nmap_error1.PNG]
I have combed the internet & tried everything I know of except rebuilding this
system, which I am really hoping to avoid since I just built it as an audio
workstation. I've stripped out everything to do with the install, then
reinstalled other versions of npcap (1.74, 1.75) and always get the same
results. Wireshark continues to work fine, regardless.
Do you have any insight into this specific error? Any help would be HUGELY
appreciated! Thank you!
Jeremy S
