We do not operate to a clear/specific schedule. Our history suggests we generally do feature bearing releases every 2-3 months. These are almost always in the form of minor release version number changes such as 2.2.0 to 2.3.0. We did the NiFi 1.x release in 2016 and 8 years later did the NiFi 2.x release. The current stable release is NiFi 2.3.0. The entire NiFi 2.x line requires Java 21 and that will remain true. We may add support for a newer LTS such as the next being 25 to the 2.x line but we'd not drop 21 from the 2.x line. Moving from NiFi 2.2.0 to 2.3.0 is very simple. Moving from NiFi 1.x to NiFi 2.x is more involved and why we've only done such a disruptive release in 8 years/etc..
