Team, Thank you all for another great quarter for the NiFi community. Here is the board report filed for this past quarter.
----- ## Description: The mission of NiFi is the creation and maintenance of software related to providing an easy to use, powerful, and reliable system to process and distribute data. Apache NiFi MiNiFi is an edge data collection agent built to seamlessly integrate with and leverage the command and control of NiFi. There are both Java and C++ implementations. Apache NiFi Registry is a centralized registry for key configuration items including flow versions, assets, and extensions for Apache NiFi and Apache MiNiFi. Apache NiFi Nar Maven Plugin is a release artifact used for supporting the NiFi classloader isolation model. Apache NiFi Flow Design System is a theme-able set of high quality UI components and utilities for use across the various Apache NiFi web applications in order to provide a more consistent user experience. ## Project Status: Current project status: Ongoing. High. Issues for the board: None. ## Membership Data: Apache NiFi was founded 2015-07-14 (9 years ago) There are currently 68 committers and 37 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is roughly 9:5. Community changes, past quarter: - No new PMC members. Last addition was Gábor Gyimesi on 2024-06-25. - Lucas Ottersbach was added as committer on 2024-11-12 ## Project Activity: After a concerted multi-year effort Apache NiFi 2.0 has been released! Apache NiFi 2.0 is the first major release for the NiFi community in more than 8 years. It brings a host of important improvements including a completely rebuilt user interface, moves to Java 21 as a minimum, removes many deprecated components, introduces new extensions, and now supports Python extensions as a first class concept running in true Python rather than via Jython. All of this helps provide a strong future for NiFi in the many use cases it has been used for but also increasingly in the emerging unstructured data use cases becoming popular with Generative AI. We've since released Apache NiFi 2.1.0 in late December 2024 as well showcasing our continued momentum on frequent releases and focus on security and staying up to date with dependencies. ## Community Health: JIRA and Mailing list activity remains consistent. The slack community continues to grow and be highly active reaching 3,534 members in the general channel. We continue to produce frequent and substantive releases in the NiFi community and benefit from substantial release vote participation. Mailing list and PR creation, review and closure are all very active. Notably this quarter a venture backed startup claiming support for Apache NiFi was acquired by Snowflake and social media and marketing information from Cloudera continues to describe support for Apache NiFi including the latest 2.x release line.
