I package the output of the assembler into an rpm using the rpm-maven-plugin. In this situation the jars get installed to the %{_javadir} so unless I change the REPO value it would fail to find them. Since REPO was not configurable via the maven plugin what I did was wrote a custom script (i.e. myproject-setenv) that contained among other things this line: REPO=/usr/share/java/$ {project.artifactId} / And then configured the appassembler-maven-plugin plugin to call this script with the <environmentSetupFileName>myproject-setenv</environmentSetupFileName> Maybe this workaround will help until those fields are configurable directly in the plugin. In our case, this especially means that we would like to control repoName via a user property, since depending on the context, installation schemes might differ. So please add more user properties for such purposes.
