Stephen Connolly commented on an issue   Re: versions:set only updates the aggregator project in some cases Functioning as designed. The root pom has /project/version and that version is not referenced by any of the other projects so as a result no other projects need to update with respect to that reference. To update everything (except the root pom) you would use mvn -DartifactId=base-pom -Dversion=1.1-SNAPSHOT and that will update the base pom version and everything else that references it. The root pom will have its /project/parent/version updated but not its /project/version (which should be omited if the intent is that it always match that of base-pom Add Comment   Mojo's Versions Maven Plugin / MVERSIONS-264 versions:set only updates the aggregator project in some cases when mvn versions:set is called on the attached project set, only the root aggregator project is updated, the expectation is that all the projects' versions get updated.
