No vote from me yet, but some additional questions.
Will this be the beginning of the end for maven plugins for any
application-server or or any product-specific plugin?
For Tomcat this will look pretty easy since some mojo-developers are also
involved in the Tomcat-project.
But what about JBoss, Weblogic, etc...
What will happen to the packaging and/or groupId?
Right now maven will only autodetect maven-plugins with groupId
org.apache.maven.plugins or org.codehaus.mojo by default.
I agree with the other reason: it would be better if products like Tomcat
include their own Maven-plugin as part of its release-cycle.
