I can't follow you here. From my point of view, there are no less than three releases of the xml-maven-plugin, namely 1.0-beta-1, 1.0-beta-2, and 1.0-beta-3. The beta might indicate lack of stability or whatever you'd like to interpret into it, but that's simply the standard naming convention for Maven plugins (we even omitted the alpha). For a three year old plugin, which is in wide use, that's more than sufficient to assume maturity.
