Exclude maven-metadata-appassembler.xml from output?

The file target/appassembler/repo/maven-metadata-appassembler.xml is always
generated, but it should not be included in any deployment artifact. Can it be
removed or moved to another location?
Exclusion during packaging is possible of course, but I think it is better to
skip creation or at least create it in another location.
