Hi Joey, actually, you would like to treat VKB as part of the input method UI. You can change input method engine through VKB UI, while you still need a way to auto show VKB on text widget focus for the user's convenience ;) And that's what we do in scim-panel-vkb-gtk package, to launch VKB in the same way you launch an IM.
