Hello all, First of all many congratulations for achieving this 'herculean' task of making OpenOffice a great success.
I work as IT Manager in my organisation, which has main office at Mumbai, India; and project offices spread across India. I came across OpenOffice in Aug-07, during my quest for alternative to MS Office, so pretty new to OOo. But yes it did not took much time to realise the capability of OOo and open source. After working for 2 months on OOo, i approached my management with a proposal of migrating all users to OOo with a comparison of licensing cost of purchasing MS Office, to which management agreed and gave a go ahead. The user base is around 250 users spread across the country, and with the release of OOo 3.0, 95% of the users are today working on OOo 3.0. It was ofcourse not easy task as we had to go through long process of convincing users to move to new platform, but yes we managed that. The remaining 5% users had to be kept on MS Office because of some issues with the applications being used such as Oracle Apps users and few other applications. Over a period of time, every day has been a new learning experience and whatever things we come across during the normal course of using the software, we share it with all the users (there is an internal mailing list, by which all users share info). So far so good....but yes there are lot of issues working with 'Impress' as most of the presentations were made in Powerpoint, so there are formatting issues. I hope that in due course those issues will also be taken care by the OOo Development team. I was unable to share this info earlier as uptill now we had been busy in making users comfortable using OOo and sorting out their problems. So now there is some time available which can be utilized to try and contribute to the OOo community. Thanks again.
