There are two main points:

1) OOo now very, very clearly has better support for older formats. (It
always had, but this is just a slap-in-the-face reminder from M$.)  This
means that long-lasting institutions like universities, some agencies
and some law firms have much to gain from OOo.

2) MSO 2003 and MSO 2007 are shipping code that is so insecure that it
is threatened even by legacy documents.
