My problem is, these files are not your typical excel spreadsheets,
one links to the other to grab some common information to keep me from
having to type it in twice, one also has embedded Autocad files with
complex math functions to calculate the lengths of objects. The other
uses Hlookup extensively to automatically calculate other lenght based
on certain variables. plus has the ability to fill out multiple sheets
from one central location to cut down on my typing time.
I have been able to get it to function about 90% correctly, the problem
is getting it do the last 10 percent. plus for some reason it messes up
the Autocad pictures in the spreadsheet, so I have to redraw all of them
to make them look right.
I do not have a lot of time to do all of this so it is taking longer to
convert then what I wanted it to take. but now that 2.0 final is out I
am going to try to make it all come together and show the bosses and try
to get the rest of the office switched over.

According to my principal of legacy file triage, you likely only ever
access about 10% of the legacy files. So bulk or batch conversion is
one of the least beneficial courses. That number varies for each
individual, but you can see how file conversion goes from Code RED!!! to
Code-Boring with an everso slight reality-check.
What we do for clients is identify the legacy files 1-5 as more or less
likely to be needed and the 1's get converted immediately. If there are
conversion issues -- most commonly it was bullets or font substitution
irregs -- then you can fix them BEFORE you're in a panic to get
something accomplished.

I signed the petition.
I have 4 computers @ home, all have windows and OOo, 1 has MS Office.
I also have 1 @ work that has both MSO and OOo.
I would love to get all the excel spreadsheets and word documents
converted to ODF so that I do not have to keep buying MSO and can move
stuff from work to home and back again.
I work about 60+ hours a week for work, 40 @ work and the rest @ home,
so I had to buy myself a copy of MSO.
