I said *independent* developers...tofu-eating communists who are not employed or are working for themselves.
If they developed code for OpenOffice.org outside of OpenOffice.org and thus showed serious interest in developing for the project, I do care. Otherwise I'm much less interested, because I do not want to throw something away for something which might not really exist.
