That particular story was submitted by an account with a history of being an heavy MS apologist, quite possibly an astroturfer.

I agree, though, that there will probably be an increase in such noise. In part it may be fueled by the journalists and their editors which like to dig up trouble or create the appearance of trouble, but also by the editors. The last five or so years, the computer magazines seem to take great effort to spin any detail for MS, especially in the headlines.
e.g. Choosing "Linux Loses To Microsoft In Midsize Companies"
instead of "MS could lose as much as 10% of its mid-sized business customers over the next three years", though the stats support either one.
