According to more responses on my MozillaZine thread (http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=1372179#1372179), the plugin we are discussing doesn't work unless you have OOo installed already. It just allows you to view an OOo document in a web browser, if you follow a link from within a web page. While useful, it's not nearly as good as a plugin that would work for people who don't have OpenOffice. (This is key, the goal is to get everyone in the world to be able to view OpenDocument files.)

Click on "Help" and you'll see this:

  --//-- Start Help --//--
  Mozilla/Netscape Plug-in

I've just checked in Firefox preferences, and under "Plugins" I found a
registered plug-in for all Star Office file types (from 5.x), OpenOffice
and Open Document.... At least, the extensions are listed, and the dialog
indicates that the plug-in is active. Next step I suppose is to try
accessing a suitable document...

Doesn't seem to work in either Opera or Firefox... :(
