Thank you for forwarding the link to the report on last year's FISL. In http://native-lang.openoffice.org/servlets/ReadMsg?list=dev&msgNo=4693 Claudio also commented: "The fisl, today, is the major FLOSS event of south hemisfere. I think that a bit small that Linuxworld, but in last year(2004), was 4 days, with ~40 presentations (7 rooms with presentation + 3 workshops), each 1.5 hours."

Last year too, Debconf4 (http://www.debconf.org/debconf4/) was held prior to the 5th FISL (http://www.softwarelivre.org/forum2004/), so it was a huge event for many people interested in OSS with almost 10 days in Porte Alegre, Brazil. Debconf5 (http://www.debconf.org/debconf5/) is heading off to Helsinki this year. If you visit the Debconf5 site, you will see they are using COMAS (http://gborg.postgresql.org/project/comas/projdisplay.php) an OSS conference maanagement system.

The 6th FISL (http://fisl.softwarelivre.org/) is coming up 1 - 4 June 2005 and The Call for Papers closed last Monday.

Is anyone planning to attend?

All the best
