Now as a marketing team we ... need to promote a few things: <snip> To be able to do this I feel we need to be somewhat nimble. Decisions need to be able to be made quick. Now I certainly do believe that the community should always be informed. I will go out on a limb and propose an order of how items should be accomplished.
<details snipped>
Reading this post and others on various lists (website, among others), it's clear to me that there is a lot of frustration among the (I assume primarily) younger members of this community, who feel that the pace of decision making and implementation is far too slow. I perceive a generation gap between the members of the "internet generation" (like Ryan and Daniel and Jason and Nicu and Adam and others) and many of the (I assume) older folks among us -- with some conspicuous exceptions like Ian Lynch, who seems to have as much energy and vision as any of the youngsters.
I seriously think it's time for people to stop interfering with the energy, enthusiasm, and sheer *vision* of this group. Let them get on with it! Offer dissenting opinions, by all means, but don't slow them down or try to stop them. They will create the opportunity to take OOo (and the world) into the future one way or another. Let's help them, not hinder them, by providing support and backup (and ideas). But let's also Get Out of Their Way.
