I have sent for information. There is an outside chance I could get some UK Government support. If so I'll pay for a booth, but I can't promise anything at this stage. What sort of resources would we need to front up to a conf of this size. 15,000 participants, probably high traffic through the exhibit hall, all looking for freebies. How many would likely pass through the booth is the big question
Regards,
It would be probably best to be able to give them a freebie that is influential. I think we need to design a cd or dvd especially for these size conferences or all conferences for that matter with a small interactive Multimedia presentation that attendees can play on their computers later.
Also a small conference pack that would sell for a minimal cost that could include cd or dvd and a small booklet with a basic intro to OOo and with pointers to Jeans book and other OOo publications perhaps, could help defray costs.
We could source the cd's through the INGOTs community service programme.
As Jean noted we need to source posters of a decent size and production value as well as flyers. It looks like a Banner/Signage is provided as part of the booth cost, but our own banner would be a good addition.
I'm not sure as to having boxes running OOo in place for people to play with as I doubt there will be the time considering the likely volume of people, but having said that, what proportion of the 15,000 would be likely be IT teachers who would most likely want to play.
We could share the booth with other FLOSS projects as a way of making it cheaper... Moodle for instance, Mozilla, the GIMP and Chandler would all be a good fit but I would be concerned about splitting focus.
Cheers Yo
