Hi Rory,

it is installed now. I kept javadocs disabled for java 8. If we find any new
issue, we of course keep you informed asap.

We committed yesterday a new module in our trunk branch, which uses mapreduce
with Apache Hadoop to index documents. We already found some incompatibility of
a dependency that is required to run this module. On Java 8, the Saxon XPath
implementation does not work correctly, it complains about an incorrect
formatted SPI file in META-INF. This is more or less the fault of Saxon (as
Workaround for a bug in Sun JDK 5), but as Saxon now requires minimum Java 6,
there is no need to keep this “hack” in the META-INF/services directory of the
JAR. See https://saxonica.plan.io/issues/1944 for more details. Maybe Oracle
could make the SPI parser again more lenient for invalid formatted entries (as
far as I see, the newlines are wrong).

I will commit an exclusion of this recently committed Lucene/Solr module if run
with Java 8 for now, until Saxon has fixed this problem.

Uwe

Subject: JDK 8 build 118 is available on java.net

Hi Uwe & Dawid,

JDK 8 B118 EA Build is now available for download
<http://jdk8.java.net/download.html> & test.

Unfortunately https://bugs.openjdk.java.net/browse/JDK-8027977 is not included.

As we get closer to the endgame we need to hear of any issues you have asap.
Ideally we are looking to have issues reported by mid-December ?

Thanks for your support, Rory
