this comment seems bizzare and makes the test pass missleadingly.
why not move the assume calls to the BeforeClass method? we have plenty of
tests that do assumptions in BeforeClass -- resulting in no methods running --
and don't report as failures (notably all hadoop based tests with an "assume <
java9")
