Perhaps the ref-guide is small enough to offer a client-side in-memory static
index, see https://github.com/dchest/static-search :-) The demo at
https://www.codingrobots.com/search/ seems to satisfy the basic needs for a
simple doc search. No idea how large the index would be given ~2Mb adoc
content...
