I can also confirm that SOLR-8340 fixed this issue. We experienced the same
error on a Solr 4.10.1 cluster, and after diving into the code we found out
exactly why it happened. Checking whether sdoc is null as described in the path
does solve it completely.
Also, this same error was described in the previous SOLR-6469 issue.
