My suggestion: start over - just do the following in an empty directory.

git clone https://git-wip-us.apache.org/repos/asf/lucene-solr.git  # same as 
you did originally
git checkout branch_6_3
-----

(BTW, branch_6_3 is *not* the 6.3.0 branch.  It is the 6.3.x branch - future 
6.3.x patch releases will be built off of it - but the name of the branch is 
spelled without the “.x”)
