David, your first comment regarding the {{FingerprintFilter}} pointed me to a
solution that works for me.
What I forgot to mention was that I also need the terms to match with some
levenshtein distance. This is why I couldn't just be "creative" with
{{RegexpQuery}}. Finally, I ended up with {{AutomatonQuery}} in conjunction
with {{LevenshteinAutomata}}.
If no one insists I'll close the issue, since there seem to be quite some
viable options to deal with these kinds of problems.
