Thanks [~dakrone], patch looks great.  I found one small fix:

   public void add(BooleanClause clause) {
+    Objects.requireNonNull("BooleanClause must not be null");
     if (clauses.size() >= maxClauseCount) {
       throw new TooManyClauses();
     }

I'll fix & commit ...
