server/solr/default_conf. It's a minimized solrconfig.xml with managed-schema
and field-guessing enabled.
I'm not sure I'm sold on that as the default. Perhaps - with some big red
documentation warnings. I think at a minimum though, it needs to be as easy as
a command line switch to change between the two defaults. I think the non
managed-schema and non field-guessing default should probably just have dynamic
fields as a start. Field guessing has too many downsides to bring it to the
front without a sensible production default as well.
