I would guess underlying performance issues causing Solr to timeout while
talking to zookeeper and to the other Solr instances. It's certainly possible
that you are running into a bug, but my early guess is that there's not enough
system resources or possibly a config problem. We need to move this to either
the solr-user mailing list or to the IRC channel for further troubleshooting.

If it turns out that there is a bug, you'll either be pointed at an existing
issue number or asked to open a new one.
