I've worked a little to try and do some of the right things along the current
approach, but I'm starting to feel I'm -1 on this approach to leader
prioritization. I think if there was proper testing here, no way doing things
this way would survive it, and I'm not sure I can make this idea work.
A better first approach probably involves having prospective leaders give up
there position in line if they see a better candidate behind them. The trick
then being to look out for how to deal with a node that looks like a better
candidate but for some reason keeps failing to be leader.
