Soumya, thanks a lot for your interest in contributing to Kafka! If you are new to the project, I would recommend to pick a JIRA that is labeled as "newbie" or "beginner".
Adding a complex feature like KAFKA-6989 might be a second step. Of course, if you feel confident enough to tackle this from the beginning on, feel free to pick it up. Note, that adding a feature like this requires to write a KIP: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Kafka+Improvement+Proposals Please, also read - http://kafka.apache.org/contributing.html and - https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Contributing+Code+Changes if you haven't already. Let us know if you have any further question. We are looking forward to your first PR! -Matthias ps: contributing code does you not make a "committer" yet -- read about becoming a committer here: https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/KAFKA/Bylaws On 6/4/18 11:33 AM, Soumya Acharya wrote: > Hi All, > I am a Java Enginner, new to Kafka and would like to contribute > as a *committer*.
