1) Since this method just returns data, it probably just happens to have had to 
wait for the lock. Not a big deal, we would expect to see that occasionally.

2) Right now this is expected, as explained in KAFKA-1788. I saw there's patch 
for that one now, might help if you tested that out and see if gives the 
behavior you were expecting.

3) As you said, known issue so we can leave that for other JIRAs to resolve.
