Hi everyone, KIP-1357 has passed the vote and the implementation is approved in https://github.com/apache/kafka/pull/22920. A few things came up during the review and I updated the kip accordingly. -
1. The fully qualified class name of the built-in sticky assignor, org.apache.kafka.coordinator.group.streams.assignor.StickyTaskAssignor, is now public API. This makes streams groups consistent with consumer and share groups, whose built-in assignor class names are already public API and listed in KIP-848. - 2. The new AssignorName field on DescribedGroup is added to StreamsGroupDescribeResponse version 1 in place, and validVersions stays 0-1. Version 1 was introduced by KIP-1331 and has not been released yet, so no version bump is needed. - 3. The nine argument StreamsGroupDescription constructor released in 4.2/4.3 is deprecated for removal, and a single new constructor carries both the KIP-1331 topology description parameters and assignorName.
