Max, First off, thanks for the KIP! Looking back at the discussion thread, I don't feel like we reached consensus on this feature. Generally, there should be overall agreement that the feature is desired and well designed before moving to a vote. Folks are pretty busy at the moment preparing for the 3.9 release as well as the conference in Austin. Maybe give the committers a bit more time to give feedback on the KIP.
