There are two regressions for a bugfix in Connect previously merged in 2.8:
- https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-12339 -- fix resource leak in Connect's Kafka*BackingStore implementations when used outside of Connect - https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-12340 -- add retry to admin client's listOffset for InvalidMetadataExceptions, allowing Connect to start if its newly-created topics are not synced to all brokers The PRs for these have already been approved and merged to the `trunk` branch (and backported to a few older branches).
