Another observation from [~jonbringhurst] is that sometime we output
Exception.getMessage as null:
{code}
2014/05/06 15:52:10.046 WARN... Possible cause: null
2014/05/06 15:52:10.047 INFO ... Reconnect due to socket error: null
{code}
This can also be improved.
