i was able to start zookeeper service on stand alone Ubuntu using the command
root@N-5CG73531RZ:/# /usr/local/zookeeper/bin/zkServer.sh start
/usr/bin/java
ZooKeeper JMX enabled by default
Using config: /usr/local/zookeeper/bin/../conf/zoo.cfg
Starting zookeeper ... STARTED
However when i do ps -ef I dont see any zookeeper service running
root@N-5CG73531RZ:/# ps -ef

Also when I do telnet , connection is refused
root@N-5CG73531RZ:/# telnet localhost 2181
Trying 127.0.0.1...
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused
can you plz help me ?
