Arturo Bernal commented on JSPWIKI-1322:
----------------------------------------
[~weberjn], thanks for trying it in Edge. I could reproduce the footer: it was
pushed to the bottom of the window by a flexbox layout that only applied once a
script had added the class can-flex, about 540 ms after the first paint, so on
a reload the footer jumped down. In Chromium the layout shift of the footer on
a reload was 0.0455 at 1327 px wide, 0.0546 at 1000 px, 0.0683 at 800 px and
0.0821 at 500 px.
I pushed a new commit to the same pull request
(https://github.com/apache/jspwiki/pull/576, commit 237dd397f): the layout is
plain CSS now, so the footer is in place from the first paint, and the script
that added the class is removed. With it I measured no layout shift on a reload
at 1327, 1000, 800 and 500 px wide. After the page has loaded, the position of
the header, the content and the footer is the same as before on a short page
and on a long one, and the header still hides when scrolling down and shows
when scrolling up.
Not tested: Firefox, Edge and Safari. At 500 px wide there are five small
shifts left (about 0.097 together) of an element 684 px high whose width goes
from 280 to 46 px within 70 ms; it looks like the side menu closing, I have not
looked into it, and it was already there before. Could you build the branch
bug/JSPWIKI-1322 again, reload with Ctrl+F5 in Edge, and tell me whether the
footer still jumps?

> On reloading the browser page, the main content is pulled upwards and goes
> down again, this results in the page flashing.
> This annoys our users.
> Continually reloading allows to screenshot this, see attachment.
> This is in 3.0.0 release and current master3. Reproduced in Firefox and Edge.
