-1 - I hate to be that guy but hear me out!
The release seems technically fine. I verified downloads, hashes, built
from sources (Java modules only), and ran examples. All looks good. Great
job, Evgeniy and all!
My biggest concern is the status of Calcite and other features as I've
explained in
https://lists.apache.org/thread/oo69m2z095scj14qv6zcv039mz554fzn. I
believe
there needs to be more work on some of the promoted features before they
are solidified in a GA release.
I agree, i think we need to document such steps somehow.
Another concern is benchmarks. I looked at the benchmark numbers at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/IGNITE/Apache+Ignite+2.18 and
the in-mem latency looks fishy; specifically, PutAllTxBenchmark shows +9%
which is a regression potentially.
Yep, i forgot to mention it in release letter, briefly: this is not a
degradation, we found that initially IGNITE-22964 (present in both 2.17,
2.18) contain a bug that was fixed in IGNITE-23856 and present only in
2.18 so 2.16 and 2.18 has no difference in performance.
Minor:
- examples don't include ignite-calcite in the pom.xml; if Calcite is GA,
they should;
- dates on the release page need updating;
- I wonder who's doing the 4.1 from the release process (docs and
announcement blog)
