I took a look at the *SHOW TABLES* behavior and I think the difference
comes from the fact that Spark's SessionCatalog#listTables()
<https://github.com/apache/spark/blob/aa1ff3789e492545b07d84ac095fc4c39f7446c6/sql/catalyst/src/main/scala/org/apache/spark/sql/catalyst/catalog/SessionCatalog.scala#L1030-L1044>
is
expected to return tables and views and I've verified this locally (it also
lists non-temp views, despite the fact that the javadoc only mentions temp
views).

The Iceberg catalog implements *TableCatalog* and TableCatalog#listTables()
<https://github.com/apache/spark/blob/d8fb91e61352e57e733e7d7e4978c8ce555454b1/sql/catalyst/src/main/java/org/apache/spark/sql/connector/catalog/TableCatalog.java#L89-L98>
is expected to return only tables and not views.
