Hi everyone, Since we were late to file a board report last month, I’m filing another one this month. Feel free to send updates!
Ryan Description: Apache Iceberg is a table format for huge analytic datasets that is designed for high performance and ease of use. Issues: There are no issues requiring board attention. Membership Data: Apache Iceberg was founded 2020-05-19 (a year ago) There are currently 18 committers and 10 PMC members in this project. The Committer-to-PMC ratio is 9:5. Community changes, past quarter: - Zheng Hu was added to the PMC on 2021-06-28 - Ted Gooch was added as committer on 2021-05-11 - Jack Ye was added as committer on 2021-07-02 Project Activity: There is lots of new work to get out in the next release: - Spark 3.1 support was finished - JDBC catalog was committed - DynamoDB catalog was committed - Predicate pushdown for Spark partitions metadata table was added - Spark 3 micro-batch reads were implemented - Row identifiers were added - New Spark compaction action API was added - The community is discussing how to improve roadmap tracking, which requires contributing to the .asf.yaml github integration to allow more people to help with issues. The community is also working on a plan to stabilize the API for a 1.0 release. Community Health: In the past quarter, commits weren’t as high as the last but the number of contributors still increased. That is a good sign that the community is growing. In addition, the community added another new committer and added a PMC member in the month since the last report. -- Ryan Blue Tabular
