+1 for shims. Very clean approach.
Should we have some tests to prove that this actually fixes the permissions
issue? Also adding a new method to HadoopShims seems like would make it
non-passive. Not sure how much we care about passivity in shims but just a
thought. Since it is an interface, not sure if we can even do much about it
anyways. :)
