It looks like we could use this plugin http://maven.apache.org/surefire/maven-surefire-report-plugin/ to generate a report. I just created https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5720 for that.
The later question depends on https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-5611.
