I had one doubt, what's the conf overlay parameter for? Is it used to pass 
config options while calling an operation? SQL operation, (and others too, if I 
am not wrong) seem to ignore it completely.

If ignoring conf overlay is not the desired behaviour, then maybe there should 
be another JIRA for that.
