Sorry Ed, I'm not sure what you mean by a positive test.The additional 
condition I added in 
TestStandardObjectInspectors.testStandardPrimitiveObjectInspector causes that 
test to fail without the change to PrimitiveObjectInspectorUtils. 
Timestamp/TimestampWritable wasn't covered by that test previously.
