The test getHiveVersion in class
org.apache.hive.hcatalog.templeton.TestWebHCatE2e check bad format of version.
It checks "0.[0-9]+.[0-9]+.*" and not "1.[0-9]+.[0-9]+.*"
This test is failed for hive, tag "release-1.0.0"
I propose a patch to correct it.
