I think it is because the type of DoubleWritable is in WritableDoubleObjectInspector is org.apache.hadoop.hive.serde2.io instead of org.apache.hadoop.io. In WritableDoubleObjectInspector, org.apache.hadoop.hive.serde2.io.DoubleWritable works fine in GenericUDAF but not in GenericUDF.
