A related question is whether we want to rename Java packages from org.apache.hadoop.hive.*
to org.apache.hive.* Apparently the HBase folks decided to punt on this one since it's quite disruptive for in-flight patches, plugin loading, etc. I'd suggest that we defer this until a "Hive 1.0" effort gets started. JVS
