Grepping the code for 0.17, 0.18, and 0.19, there are lots of tweaks which were
applied to keep the code compatible with these Hadoop versions. As of
HIVE-1701, we're dropping support for them, so we should clean up by
eliminating the tweaks.
Likewise, we can scrub away any shim interface methods which were only needed
for these versions (i.e. most of them).
