`testCompressionIOExceptionLeavesOutputStreamOpen` only checked that the output stream stays open inside the catch block, so if `writeTo` swallowed the `IOException` nothing was checked and the test still passed. This asserts the exception with `assertThrows` and then verifies the stream was not closed; if `writeTo` caught the exception and closed the stream, the old test would pass and the new one fails. -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
